Jaak Kikas "Ducks and Rhubarbs"

This Voronja gallery's apartment exhibition is unconventional and distinctive—just like all the previous ones. Can a display consisting of only two images even be called an exhibition? Considering that single-image shows have also been organized in Tartu—why not! If the visual range of the works stretches from baroque lushness to ascetic minimalism, as it does in this case, the display could even be called a major exhibition.

The author of the works, physicist-photographer Jaak Kikas, is a fairly well-known name in Tartu. His works have previously been seen at Noorus Gallery, Jakobi Gallery, and the Science Centre AHHAA. His most recent exhibition, Shadowland, can now be viewed again at The Omicum Gallery.

The exhibition space is also special this time—it takes place in an exclusive microhouse designed and built by Tartu architect Tiit Silla, attached to the garage units at the river end of Lubja Street. Whose home is this? Can anyone really live in such a small house without going mad? Should there be more houses like this in the city? Come, see, and share your thoughts.
