On May 9, 2026, the same day the Venice Art Biennale opens its doors, so will the new MIGA gallery building. For its first exhibition, Sandra Jõgeva will present her audience with a critical and sharp look behind the scenes of the art world, into its invisible hierarchies and power dynamics that influence both the role of the artist and the way the creative field functions more broadly.


Sandra Jõgeva (born 17 July 1976) is an Estonian artist, film director, curator, writer, and critic. Her work has been exhibited since 1996, and she held her first solo exhibition in 1998. In 2000, she began creating performance art while also producing video works, later expanding into documentary filmmaking. At the same time, she started writing for newspapers and magazines, and later published short stories and a novel. In 2018, her debut documentary film "Love" won both an Estonian Film and Television Award and an award from the Estonian Cultural Endowment.

MIGA exhibition features two video installations. On the ground floor, visitors can view Jõgeva's video inspired by Venice, while the second floor presents two videos from the series "Pied-à-terre," a playful yet philosophical exploration of the body, movement, and desire. Centered on the artist's own feet, these short videos create a poetic journey through Tallinn, Tartu, Nice, San Remo, and the mountain villages of Liguria. Places where body and space become intertwined, and where feet, as symbols of movement and freedom, acquire new meaning at the intersection of fetishism and identity.

Microgallery/MIGA (1c–7 Lubja Street, Tartu) is a compact yet ambitious contemporary art platform located in Ülejõe district, Micro-Venice. Its intimate, two-story 36 m² space invites visitors to immerse themselves in close-up encounters with art, sparks dialogue across borders, and experiments with bold, unconventional exhibition formats.

MIGA program focuses on contemporary art that resonates with social currents, personal experience, and the perception of space, linking the local art scene to wider cultural developments. Its modest scale keeps costs low, allowing the majority of resources to go directly to supporting artists and the core program. Each ticket is more than admission, it’s a gesture of support that helps the gallery thrive sustainably and shape the future of this artistic space.
